I need a Sexual Assault Nurse Examination (i.e., rape kit) to collect evidence that can be used by the police or in court and to receive follow up care after an assault.
Please note that physical evidence (for example, DNA) may need to be collected within 5 days of the incident. If it has been more than 5 days, you can still have a medical examination, but it will not include DNA collection. You will be able to decide what you want to do with evidence (for example, whether to have it submitted to law enforcement) after it is collected.

I need testing for pregnancy or sexual transmitted infestions (i.e., STDs).
Please note that certain preventative treatments and options may need to be started within 3 days of the assault to be effective.

I need a general medical exam for other injuries.
Please note that it is recommended to always go to the emergency room for strangulation/ choking/ any force applied to the neck, or any other serious injuries.

For a sexual assault nurse examination to complete a rape kit, contact a provider below.

Trained sexual assault advocates are available to survivors during the medical examination to provide emotional support as well as information about rights and resources. You have the right to choose if you would like to have an advocate with you throughout the entire exam. Advocates are called to respond to the ER whenever a survivor is in need of an exam, it’s your choice whether or not they stay.
